Founded in 2003, áltaVoz is a consortium of five Latin American composers living in various cities around North America and Europe. It is a group that expresses the confluence of its members’ diverse ethnic an cultural origins through a common purpose: the organization of contemporary music concerts, interdisciplinary projects, workshops and symposia. áltaVoz has collaborated with some of the most dynamic new music performers in the northeastern United States and has held concerts in venues such as Harvard University’s John Knowles Paine Hall, Juilliard’s Paul and Morse halls, the University of Nevada’s Beam Music Center, the Americas Society in New York and soon will be traveling abroad for concerts in Peru and Mexico. Described by the critics as “a group to watch” and a “very accomplished” and “talented collective” who offers “arresting performances”, áltaVoz intends to be a provocative forum for any artist, individual, group or institution with an open spirit, desirous to bring cutting edge contemporary art into the community at large.
